SHOWCASE DAY:

Date: Sunday November 15th

Venue: Brighton Performing Arts Centre (Theatre), Brighton Secondary School.

Arrival time : 2:20pm

Performance Time: 3:00pm

All dancers are invited to be part of our End-of-Year Showcase.

Each week in class, dancers build their routines while strengthening their skills, developing performance techniques, and learning the value of commitment and teamwork.

It is very important that dancers attend all of their scheduled classes between now and Showcase. This time together allows them to refine routines, build confidence, and perform at their best.

If your dancer will be missing several classes in Term 4, please contact us in advance.

Please Note: If your dancer is unable to attend the rehearsals or the Showcase on the dates and times provided, let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust routines accordingly.

DROP OFF & PICK UP

On showcase day, all of the dancers will be staying backstage with staff and teachers for the duration of the show. Dancers are required to arrive 40mins before their show time.

During the dropping off times, we ask that one parent/guardian comes with their child into the drop off area (you will be directed once inside the venue). Teachers and staff will be backstage with preschoolers at ALL times.

All dancers will be collected from the stage area once the show is over. We ask that ONE parent remains in the theatre for collection please.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us. We will ensure that we talk you through the showcase day procedure again in the weeks leading up to the showcase.

SECURITY & STUDENT SAFETY

As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. On showcase day all dancers will need to be signed in / out to gain access backstage. All backstage staff/teachers will be issued with passes that are required to be worn at all times. Only Thats Dancing staff & teachers are permitted backstage. We are unable to run messages or food to dancers, so please make sure they have everything before they come backstage. There will be someone at the door for the entire day checking passes. We do this to protect the dancers, please respect this policy. Please try not to bring anything valuable, especially electronic devices. Mobile phones are not to be taken backstage or in the changing areas during the showcase. Our studio will take no responsibility if an item is damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen.

All Preschool dancers will be given a ID wristband which is colour coded to their class. teacher and routines. This to be worn on their left wrist for the entire day. This will have their name, class/es and any medical information on it. This identifies each dancer to our staff and teachers and ensures we have them in their correct costumes for their enrolled classes.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in.

WHAT TO WEAR

All dancers are to arrive with their hair and makeup completed, underwear, tights on and a dressing gown or zip jacket to be worn to protect from taking clothing over your head and messing up hair. Please do NOT bring any bags or water bottles, water and mess free snacks will be supplied.

UNDERWEAR

Please be aware that stage lights pick up undergarments if they are dark coloured or patterned which does not look good under light coloured costumes. Please make sure your child is wearing flesh or white coloured underwear.

PRESCHOOL DANCERS:

Stage makeup is optional but encouraged.

Boys are not expected to wear makeup however welcome to discuss options with Renee directly.

PRESCHOOL HAIR:

Preschool dancers are to wear their hair in two neat, secure space buns, with a middle part. Bun net packs are required to keep the buns secure and can be purchased from the studio for $10.00 per pack. Please ensure buns are tightly secured with hair ties, pins and bun nets, and held in place with hairspray and/or gel. Dancers will have multiple costume changes, so hair must be neat, secure and able to stay in place throughout the day.

MAKE-UP:

Apply make-up base. Apply pinkish brown tone blush to cheekbones.

Apply pink/brown eye shadow on lid – work from the inside corner along the lash line. You may also like to use white under the brow to highlight.

Add black mascara to both top and bottom lashes.

Lipstick is provided by THATS DANCING.

RECREATIONAL DANCERS:

Stage Makeup is required.

Boys are not expected to wear makeup however welcome to discuss options with Renee directly.

RECREATIONAL HAIR:

Hair is to be worn in a middle part and styled into a slick, straight, low ponytail. Please ensure the hair tie matches your dancer’s hair colour and that the hairstyle is securely held in place with hairspray and/or gel. Dancers will have multiple costume changes and perform in multiple shows, so hair must be neat, secure and able to stay in place throughout the day.

MAKE-UP:

Apply make-up base. Foundation needs to be darker than what their normal shade would be. Apply pinkish brown tone blush to cheekbones.

Apply pink/brown eye shadow on lid – work from the inside corner along the lash line. You may also like to use white under the brow to highlight.

Define the eyes with black eyeliner pencil. Use along the top and bottom lash lines.

Add lots of black mascara to both top and bottom lashes

Apply red lipstick.

JEWELLERY AND NAIL POLISH

Please leave all jewellery at home. Also, please remove nails & toe polish and sticker tattoos.

FOOD & DRINK

Snacks & Water will be provided by THATS DANCING. If your child has any allergies, please let us know ASAP. Mess free/dry snacks & water will be provided backstage.

***Backstage games and entertainment will be provided by our staff/teachers.

SHOWCASE MEMORABILIA

We engage the services of a Professional Videographer to capture your dancer in their group costume and performance on stage.

By participating in our Showcase, you acknowledge that photography and videography may take place during classes, rehearsals, performances, and events. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, filmed, appear in costume, or participate in stage presentations, please notify the studio in writing before the event. We encourage and support every dancer to take part as best they can, but we also respect that at times some children may choose not to participate. Thank you for your understanding

Disclosure: Digital links for videos will aim to be available for download before Christmas.

A showcase fee of $89.00 per dancer will be payable. This will be added in your Term 4 invoice.
